Here's why we use Coconut wax in our candles

Using quality ingredients has always been important to us, and a big part of why we started this brand: a love of fragrance but a desire for natural ingredients. At the start of our journey, we used a blend of Coconut & Soy wax; a great alternative to the paraffin waxes in many of the big box brands. After months of testing, we made the switch to the smooth, luxe blend of Coconut & Apricot wax instead. Here's why we made the switch, and why Coconut wax is an important part of how we do things.

Stronger scent throw

Nothing against soy, we still use it in some of our other products! But, for some of the floral and fruit-based scents we happen to use in our 8 oz candles, Coconut-Apricot worked better for filling larger rooms.

An even slower burn

If you love candles, it can be easy to burn through them in no time. The point is to light them! But, nothing is worse than using up a candle you love too quickly. With our Coconut-Apricot wax formula, coupled our larger 8 oz jars, you'll get total of hours of burn time. That means you'll get to enjoy your Ruth & Gem for even longer.

Clean-Burning

As a naturally-derived ingredient, Coconut-Apricot wax doesn't release harmful toxins or soot into the air when it's burning compared to paraffin-based candles. With your Ruth & Gem products, you should still practice good candle care by not burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Sustainable

Coconut wax is a renewable and biodegradable material, often sourced without the use of pesticides or deforestation. Producing it has low environmental impact in comparison with other kinds of waxes, since the remnants left behind after production also decompose naturally.
